Costa Rican cuisine plays a large role when visiting or living in, the country. When you are considering purchasing Costa Rica Real Estate you have to embrace the Tico cooking. The Ticos’ diet is simple, low fat, and rich in proteins and carbohydrates. The Cost Rican cuisine contains many different fruits, fresh vegetables, beef, and salads. Picadillo is a meal in every Tico’s home, it contains diced potatoes or chayote’s, mixed with chopped meat, tomatoes, onions, fresh coriander, and bell peppers. The next day Picadillo’s served with rice and beans for breakfast, along with corn tortillas and fresh cheese.

Gallo Pinto is a combination of rice, beans, and different seasonings. Breakfast consists of scrambled or fried eggs, with sour cream. For lunch, businessmen, professionals, students, and farmers like Casado, eat a large combination of rice, beans, salad, fried plantains, chicken, fish or beef. The country also has many other typical dishes such as, olla de carne (meat pot with a lot of vegetables), sopa negra (black bean soup), chicharrones (deep-fried pig skins), and Tamales for Christmas.

These Costa Rican meals are in many different places such as restaurants, resorts, or peoples homes. American-style restaurants are common around the Central Valley, restaurants such as KFC, Pizza Hut and McDonalds. There are options available for anybody’s preferences, but the typical Costa Rican dishes are not something to miss out on.
